TEC's Declaration of Independence
The House of Bishops effectively just issued one to the Anglican Communion.
They categorically rejected the Pastoral Scheme of the Dar es Salaam Communiqué, and they procedurally demurred from responding to the two requests directed specifically to the HOB--namely, to refrain from consecrating any non-celibate homosexuals to the episcopacy and to refrain from authorizing same-sex blessings in their dioceses. The claim, time and again, was that ours is a democractic church and the imperious demands of foreign primates cannot--and will not--be met by bishops of this church.
I call it a Declaration of Independence if there ever was one.
Is it the beginning of the Revolutionary War within TEC?
